Curry Sets Playoff Career-High in Must Win Scenario

In a must-win scenario, Stephen Curry scored a playoff career-high 50 points, leading the Warriors to a clutch Game 7 victory 120-100 in Sacramento on Sunday. No other player in NBA History has scored 50 points in a Game 7.

The Warriors had the worst road record of any team in these playoffs during the regular season but won two pivotal road playoff games to clinch the series. Under Steve Kerr, the Warriors are now 19-0 against Western Conference playoff teams and 3-0 in Game 7’s within the conference.

Stephen Curry’s All-Time Performance
Stephen Curry scored 50 points for the first time in the history of Game 7’s, surpassing Kevin Durant’s 48-point game against the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021. The Warriors trailed by two points at halftime despite 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting from Curry. His eight made field goals tied the most shots he had made in any half of his playoff career. That is, of course, until the second half began. Curry scored 30 points in the second half, including 16 in the fourth quarter and made 12 field goals. The Warriors outscored the Kings by 22 in the second half (64-42). In addition, Curry made seven 3-pointers in the game, passing Ray Allen for the most career 3-pointers in the history of Game 7’s (28).

Warriors Assist on 10 of First 11 Field Goals
The Warriors led the NBA in assists during the regular season and their ball movement was on full display in the opening quarter. On their first offensive set, Stephen Curry used a Kevon Looney ball screen and swung it to Draymond Green, who quickly dimed up a cutting Looney for a dunk. The Warriors finished the first quarter with 10 assists on 11 made field goals and had 25 assists on 43 made baskets for the game.

Third Quarter Offensive Rebounds
In the third quarter of Game 7, the Warriors jumped out to, at that point, their largest lead (12 points) thanks primarily to their pursuit of the basketball. The Warriors grabbed 13 offensive rebounds in the third, tied for the most they have had in any quarter over the last 20 seasons. Seven of those 13 offensive rebounds came from Kevon Looney, who leads the playoffs in rebounds (106). Looney grabbed 21 rebounds on Sunday, becoming the first player since Dwight Howard (2008) with three 20-plus rebound games in one series.
