Supercomputer rates Tottenham's exact percentage chance of finishing fourth in Premier League, it's not looking good

Tottenham saw their chances of a top four finish and a return to the Champions League take a huge hit over the weekend with a derby defeat to Arsenal.

Spurs were shaky in the opening exchanges and conceded three quick goals to trail at the break, prompting boos from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd.

Ange Postecoglou’s half-time team talk rallied the troops, sparking a comeback as both Cristian Romero and Heung-Min Son scored to give the home team some hope of salvaging a draw.

It wasn’t to be though, as Arsenal held on and took all three points and the North London derby bragging rights with them.

While there will naturally be some pain associated with the loss, the bigger picture will be the damage it may do to Tottenham’s Champions League qualification hopes.

Premier League top four supercomputer prediction

So the top four race still hangs in the balance, as Tottenham fell to another defeat, while rivals Aston Villa could only muster a draw against Chelsea.

Those results have moved the gap between Villa and Spurs up to seven points, though the Lilywhites do hold two games in hand in their quest for Champions League football.

The odds appear firmly against Ange Postecoglou though, with the Spurs boss requiring some big results against tough opposition to land a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Opta Analyst and their latest supercomputer run demonstrates this, with the Villains now the clear favourites to earn fourth.

The prediction has given Aston Villa an 86% chance of finishing in the top four, while Tottenham have seen their chances drop to just 14%.

Manchester United and Newcastle United are given the slimmest of percentages, with each team given just a 0.01% probability of landing fourth.
