KEY DECISION: Abreu and Criswell guide the Boston Red Sox to victory against the San Francisco Giants, marking their sixth shutout of the season

Rookie Wilyer Abreu had a single, double, and his first triple in his career. Cooper Criswell pitched five innings without allowing any runs, helping the Boston Red Sox secure a 4-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

This win marked their sixth shutout of the season, the most in the major leagues.

Abreu’s performance, which included hits in various forms, contributed to Boston’s third consecutive win. Jarren Duran also played well, getting singles in his first three at-bats and bringing in a run.

Rob Refsnyder added to the score with two RBI singles. Their hits, along with six walks, put pressure on San Francisco’s pitchers on a cool evening.

Boston manager Alex Cora praised the team’s disciplined approach at the plate. Logan Webb, the Giants’ ace pitcher, saw his streak of 19 scoreless innings come to an end in the first inning with Refsnyder’s RBI single.

Webb struggled throughout the game, allowing four runs and nine hits before leaving in the fourth inning.

On the other hand, Criswell had an impressive outing, allowing only two hits and striking out four batters in his five innings. San Francisco struggled to get hits, with their first one coming in the fifth inning. Despite some hits in the later innings, they couldn’t mount a significant offensive threat.

The Giants managed to limit the damage in the first few innings, but the Red Sox continued to pressure Webb, forcing him to throw many pitches. Abreu and Refsnyder’s hits in the third inning added to the Giants’ woes, securing Boston’s lead.
