It has been a difficult past two weeks for Tottenham who have had to sit and watch Aston Villa pull clear in fourth spot.

Since the heavy defeat in Tyneside, Spurs have had the weekend off due to their game against Manchester City being rearranged.

However, Ange Postecoglou‘s side are returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the weekend with the biggest game of the campaign.

They will be having to do so without their starting left-back Destiny Udogie who has picked up an injury in training since the defeat to Newcastle United.

But there has been some more positive news on the injury front coming out of Hotspur Way ahead of the game on Sunday.

Spurs could now see two of their players return to the fold this weekend after they’ve been dealing with their own injury issues.

Going into the game on the weekend, Spurs have a much cleaner bill of health than they have experienced at times this season.

The Lilywhites have suffered massively this term through injuries with the likes of Micky van de Ven and James Maddison both suffering long-term issues.

During the winter Spurs had to resort to a centre-back pairing of Emerson Royal and Ben Davies with Cristian Romero also out through suspension.

But going into the North London Derby on Sunday, Postecoglou is likely to have almost everyone now available to play.

According to club insider Paul O Keefe, both Pedro Porro and Richarlison have returned to training ahead of the game on the weekend.

The Spanish right-back was forced off in the heavy defeat at St. James’ Park two weeks ago with what appeared to be a hamstring concern.

And Richarlison has been absent for well over a month now with his brief return to the fold only really offering a handful of minutes in the latter stages of games.

But the pair are now seemingly going to be assessed ahead of the weekend with Spurs fans hoping they will not be without both of their starting full-backs following Udogie’s issue.

How long will Destiny Udogie miss through injury?

On Sunday, it was announced that Udogie had undergone surgery on a quadriceps injury which he had picked up in training earlier in the week.

Unfortunately for Spurs, the Italian is now going to be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign and the hope is he can return for pre-season.

Udogie has been one of the shining lights in the Postecoglou era at Tottenham with the young left-back excelling in his first season in England.

This will now mean Ben Davies is the likely replacement at left-back for the remainder of the term with some seriously difficult games on the horizon.
