Tottenham are leading a host of Premier League clubs in the battle to sign Australian wonderkid Thomas Waddingham
Waddingham has been in red-hot form in recent weeks, scoring five goals in his last nine games as he continues to impress in his breakout season with A-League side Brisbane Roar.
The 19-year-old has caught the attention of several top clubs across Europe as he sits just two goals behind fellow teen sensation and Bayern Munich-bound Nestory Irankunda in the scoring charts.
The Bundesliga giants are also leading the hunt amongst the German clubs keen on Waddingham, while Spurs are the frontrunners amongst his Premier League suitors.
Ange Postecoglou has been alerted to the Australian U-23 international’s capabilities through his A-League contacts and the North London club are keen to steal a march on their competitors for the talented teenager.
The 6’0” forward is a throwback to the traditional No.9 striker and Brisbane Roar are aware of the growing interest in him.
Tottenham must act quickly to secure Thomas Waddingham transfer
Waddingham broke onto the scene at Brisbane Roar last season, registering four goals in five Australia Cup appearances.
That form led to him being handed a chance in the A-League this campaign, where he’s started in 18 of his 22 outings.
The teenager’s recent purple patch has now taken his goal tally to six for the season, catching the eye of several clubs across Europe.
Postecoglou could be looking for the Tottenham hierarchy to sanction a move for his compatriot soon after hearing glowing reports from his A-League contacts.
Interest in Waddingham is only likely to increase as the forward continues to make a name for himself in Brisbane.
In other news, Tottenham ace is “unhappy” and wants to leave.
