Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag has faced significant criticism this season following a disappointing campaign. Journalist Christian Falk has hinted that Thomas Tuchel might be interested in assuming control at Old Trafford.
Despite securing the Carabao Cup and Champions League qualification last season, Manchester United has faltered in the Premier League. While there’s still a chance of FA Cup success this term, their league performance has been lackluster.

Christian Falk, a journalist for BILD, provided insights into the managerial situation at Old Trafford. Falk suggested that ten Hag could be an option for Bayern Munich, while also indicating Tuchel’s interest in the Manchester United job.
Falk stated, “Erik ten Hag is also being discussed at FC Bayern. Thomas Tuchel is still interested in the job at Manchester United. Tuchel doesn‘t want contact with United before the match against Real Madrid.”
Tuchel’s reluctance to engage with Manchester United at this stage likely stems from his commitment to Chelsea, particularly with the Blues competing in the Champions League. Tuchel and Chelsea are set to part ways at the end of the season, following an announcement by Bayern Munich earlier this year. With Bayer Leverkusen dominating the Bundesliga, Bayern’s decision-makers evidently feel a change is necessary.
According to The Guardian writer Jamie Jackson, Manchester United has a prime opportunity to secure a “serial trophy winner” like Tuchel, who will be available later this year. Jackson highlighted Tuchel’s Champions League triumph over Pep Guardiola as a testament to his credentials.
While ten Hag’s position at Manchester United is uncertain, the club’s owners, Ratcliffe and INEOS, may contemplate a managerial change. United currently occupies sixth place in the Premier League standings, trailing Aston Villa by 13 points in fourth place, effectively ruling out Champions League qualification.
Journalist Georg Holzner reported that Manchester United has initiated contact with Tuchel regarding a potential managerial switch in the summer. Tuchel, described as “elite” by former United midfielder Paul Ince, may view a return to England as unfinished business following his successful stint at Chelsea, where he secured Champions League glory before his dismissal last season. Despite the challenges, Tuchel seems open to the prospect of leading Manchester United.
