There’s a good chance Tottenham Hotspur will be busy when the transfer window opens in summer.
Spurs have improved since last season and their future looks bright with Ange Postecoglou at the helm.
However, there’s still work to do with regards to the quality and strength in depth of the Tottenham squad.
Midfield is an area where Spurs could strengthen, amid speculation linking Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with a move away from N17.
Now, a report has emerged claiming Tottenham could cash in on Hojbjerg to help fund the purchase of an exciting £45million replacement.
The player in question is Everton‘s Amadou Onana, one of the best young players in the Premier League.
According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham and Arsenal are among those who are monitoring the 22-year-old midfielder.
The report also claims that Everton could allow Onana to leave for a fee in the region of £45million.
Furthermore, Spurs are apparently willing to let Hojbjerg go for around £20million this summer.
This could help fund a move for the Belgium international, who is also on Newcastle and Barcelona’s radar, added the report.
Tottenham would be getting a top talent in Amadou Onana
Onana has proven himself in the Premier League, so Tottenham – and other suitors – know what they’ll be getting if they sign him.
He is incredibly talent, stands 6ft 5in tall, is fast, and at just 22 years of age, he’s likely nowhere near his best yet.
Roberto Martinez is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying about Onana in 2022: “He’s a strong personality. He never hides, he asks for the ball and he dares.
“He is one of the most talented young players in Europe.”
And £45million isn’t a huge amount for a young, Premier League-proven midfielder either, considering Declan Rice went for £105million just last year.
Let’s see what happens in the coming months. No doubt there will be a highly-contested race for Onana’s services this summer.
