BREAKING NEWS: Tottenham youngster likened to Harry Kane spotted in pre-Chelsea training

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou expects Tottenham to challenge for Premier League title next season - Eurosport

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been putting his players through their paces ahead of Thursday’s Premier League meeting with Chelsea.

It’s very much last-chance saloon for Spurs now with regards to their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Tottenham’s loss to Arsenal at the weekend was their second defeat in a row, leaving them seven points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Luckily for Spurs, they have two games in hand on Villa, who also dropped two points against Chelsea on Saturday.

If Tottenham win both of their games in hand, they’ll be just one point behind Villa with three games to go, and then it’ll all be up for grabs.

At the same time, Postecoglou seems to be keeping an eye on the future, with one of Spurs’ academy stars once again featuring in training.

Tottenham’s social media team posted a video of the players in training, and Mikey Moore was spotted once again in the mix.

As per Lilywhite Rose, the 16-year-old has been taking part in senior training for the third week in a row.

Who is Tottenham Hotspur talent Mikey Moore?

Moore joined Tottenham at Under-9 level and has risen through the ranks to become one of the stand-out players for the Under-18s.

The 16-year-old has a staggering 16 goals and nine assists from just 14 outings in all competitions this season.

Spurs icons Gary Mabbutt and Jermain Defoe have both sung Moore’s praises in recent months.

“We have a young lad called Mikey Moore, a striker who we hope is going to be in the Harry Kane sort of mould,” Mabbutt said on talkSPORT in March.

Meanwhile, Defoe told the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast earlier this season: “I watched him in training and I thought he shouldn’t be doing that at 15 (his age then).

“It’s a big statement, but he reminds me of Gazza a little bit, the way he glides past people, it’s easy and he’s doing it at 15.

“Hopefully we see him in the Premier League soon.”

It’s great to see a top talent doing so well that he’s fast-tracked into senior training. And to see a player in the first-team fold at 16 shows just how great a prospect he is.

Indeed, Ange Postecoglou called Moore “very talented” in April and said all the reports he’s had on him have been “outstanding”.

Hopefully he’ll get his debut before the end of the season, a few minutes at the end of one of the league matches. Then, if all goes well, he should be in the Under-21s next term.
