BREAKING NEWS: “I feel that he can give us results. Losing him like that would be a terrible blunder. He’s definitely going to be on the first team once his loan deal expires ” – This is according to Sir Jim Ratcliffe as Manchester United prolongs Mason Greenwood’s contract, with the club confirming their intention to prioritize the young star in the upcoming season.

Mason Greenwood’s contract with Manchester United is expected to extend beyond its current expiry date in 2025.

Mason Greenwood’s contract with Manchester United is expected to extend beyond its current expiry date in 2025.

Manchester United have allegedly notified Mason Greenwood that they intend to activate a one-year extension in his contract, keeping him tied to the club until 2026.

While there are purported plans to potentially sell Greenwood this summer, United are prepared to welcome him back if no interested parties meet their valuation.

INEOS, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are poised to make significant decisions during their inaugural transfer window overseeing football operations at Old Trafford.

Reportedly, United will entertain offers for most senior players, with exceptions for Andre Onana, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Hojlund.

Mason Greenwood is among the prominent players potentially on the market as the new co-owners seek to alleviate Financial Fair Play constraints.

The 22-year-old forward has made an impression since his return from an 18-month loan spell at Getafe, tallying 10 goals and six assists in 31 appearances for the La Liga side this season.

United, as per ESPN, are holding out for a transfer fee ranging from £30 million to £40 million for Greenwood and are unwilling to accept a reduced price.

Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, Facundo Pellistri, and Amad Diallo also have contract expiration dates coinciding with Greenwood’s, but they each have one-year extension options.

As a result, all nine players could potentially be on the transfer market this summer, although it wouldn’t be surprising if Maguire, McTominay, and Amad’s extension clauses are activated.

Greenwood’s potential return could stir controversy, given the backlash United faced last year when former chief executive Richard Arnold reportedly attempted unsuccessfully to reintegrate him before a late U-turn was made.

However, by securing his signature until 2026, the possibility of another loan next season cannot be dismissed, and United would still have the option to command a transfer fee a year before his contract expires.
