With Liverpool entering a crucial phase of change due to the upcoming new manager, there’s talk about possible squad shake-ups.
It’s believed that offloading underperforming forwards Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez could be an initial signal from the presumed new manager, Arne Slot.
Salah, a beloved player at Anfield, has shown incredible skill during his time with Liverpool. However, at 32 and with just one year left on his contract, there are doubts about his future with the club.
Meanwhile, Nunez, despite his potential, has struggled to consistently score goals, adding to Liverpool’s offensive challenges. His frequent misses in key moments highlight the need to evaluate the team’s attacking choices.
Losing Salah and Nunez would certainly change Liverpool’s offensive strategy. While Salah’s exit would mark the end of a significant era and bring concerns about filling his goal-scoring gap, it might also signify a new beginning for the club under new management.
“The missed opportunity by Nunez before half-time is inexcusable at this level,” Carragher commented. “That’s not up to the mark, especially when Liverpool is in the title race.
“At this point with Nunez, I think the question isn’t even worth asking anymore.
“After two years at the club – and I’ve been hopeful about this – you want him to succeed because he gives it his all, runs tirelessly, and occasionally scores and assists.
Recent reports suggest that Liverpool’s recruitment team favored Christopher Nkunku over Nunez, hinting at differing views on player suitability and tactical alignment within the team. While Nunez was more of a Klopp choice, Liverpool’s recruitment team leaned towards Christopher Nkunku.
